typical day A Typical Day in the Job

Your day will start with a short walk in the fresh mountain air, taking in all the views, before arriving at your chalet for around 7.30am.

Your first responsibility will be to get the chalet filled with the smell of freshly baked pastries. We offer our guests a continental breakfast with a cooked option for 5 days of the week. As a chalet chef/cook, you will offer a daily cooked special which is served between 8 am and 9 am.

Once breakfast is finished, you will need to clear the dining area before baking a cake for afternoon tea and prepping for the evening meal. At first, this may take some time but once you're in a routine, you can expect to leave the chalet and hit the mountain by 10.30/11am.

Afternoon tea is left out for guests to help themselves to so you don't need to be there to serve. You'll head back into the chalet no later than 6.30pm to finish preparing and serving a three-course evening meal. We usually serve this around 8 pm. Again, once you're in a routine you should have served the meal and cleaned down the kitchen by 10/10.30pm ready for a post-work beer!

As a small team, we do require flexibility and teamwork from all of our staff. You can expect that your job role will vary at times and will include things such as helping hosts to turnover chalets at weekends, talking to guests, driving, snow clearing and other odd jobs.

ideal candidate Who are we looking for?

We're looking for a chef or experienced cook. You will therefore need to have previous experience working in a professional kitchen or with private dining but we are not looking for head or high end chefs so mulitple years of experience are not necessary. This job role will suit someone relatively new to the trade looking to improve their skills and experience.

our offer What we can offer you

Working for a small owner run company has lots of benefits. You'll be recognised and rewarded for the work you do and get to enjoy the fun side of living in the Alps too. We provide a good package and are happy to arrange lift passes, accommodation, travel and insurance for you all at great rates.

You'll be working in the chalet for 5 days of the week and have at least 1.5 days off. The additional half day is given in lieu or paid at the end of the season.
