The job description
a typical day in resort
Your overall aim and purpose is to provide a safe, stimulating and caring environment for children aged 3 months to 12 years. This means you'll be designing a varied programme of age-appropriate activities for the children in your care, ensuring they get outside wherever possible!
Our guests are handing over their most precious possessions to you, and they will require and appreciate your excellent organisation and communication skills while their children are in your care. Your duties will involve liaising and communicating effectively and regularly with parents, and with other members of the childcare and resort team, to ensure that all aspects of the daily childcare programme run smoothly.
There may be daily drop offs or collections at ski school to undertake and organise.
There will most certainly be snacks and food on the agenda! So you will need to provide (which may involve planning, preparing and cooking) nutritious lunch time dishes and snacks for all ages.
Health, safety and organisation are front and centre of what we do, so it's imperative you keep accurate records for all children in your care, and refer to individual information regarding their general care and dietary requirements. In the unlikely and unfortunate event of an accident, you will be required to remain calm and administer First Aid if needed.
Finally, flexibility is key! All members of resort staff are required to pull together to provide a seamless service for our guests. We would expect you to work as a team and be prepared to assume other duties not ordinarily in your job spec, in order to get the job done.
Who are we looking for?
what makes you the ideal candidate
We require our Childcare team to have the following attributes and qualifications:
- Qualified to NNEB, CACHE, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (although we also welcome applicants with a teaching or nursing degree, who have good experience working with young children)
- Certification of all qualifications
- A current, valid DBS check in place for the duration of the contract
- Confident demeanour - in order to work alone and to liaise effectively with parents as well as children
- Ability to deliver exceptional, thoughtful and empathetic standards of care
- A team player
- Creative and energetic
- Proactive
- Ability to cook children's meals
- Full, clean driving licence, held for at least 2 years is useful
- A flexible, "can-do" attitude
What can we offer you?
why choose us for your ski season
We pride ourselves on being an honest, genuine company who give support to all of our staff across all resorts. We have a Childcare Manager, and Head Nannies in our resorts, who are on hand to help you, throughout the season. Our staff support network is second to none, and all the visa paperwork we arrange on your behalf, is priceless. You just rock up, we do the rest! This does not necessarily happen elsewhere.
If you ask our previous staff, you will soon see that a season with VIP SKI is an unforgettably positive, amazing work-life balance experience - and an excellent way in which to have fun whilst using your specialist skills.
It's also worth mentioning that monetary tips from happy guests at the end of the week - which should never be assumed and cannot be guaranteed - are also not unusual!
We offer a highly competitive package, including the following:
- Competitive salary
- Arrangement of accommodation
- Full area ski lift pass
- Ski/Board hire (a small contribution may be required in certain resorts)
- Full medical insurance, with Winter Sports coverage
- Food
