The job description
a typical day in resort
Couples typically work in chalets and operate as a chef/host partnership, with one person doing the cooking and the other acting as host. Skiers and snowboarders are hungry creatures, so you will be providing up to three meals each day, starting early with a hearty breakfast, and ending late in the evening with a multi-course meal. As chalet host and manager, your duties will also include keeping the chalet tidy, making all the beds, and general maintenance. You will also be expected to assist guests with tasks such as booking ski equipment, arranging transfers, organising their lift passes, and if you fancy the night off - booking their restaurant reservation. This is certainly a demanding role for both of you.
Who are we looking for?
what makes you the ideal candidate
Only apply if you have genuine relevant experience please. Hosting your own dinner parties may show your interest in the role, but professional kitchen experience is often a requirement, as plenty of applicants will have this level of experience.
In some parts of the Alps the driving age is 21 so this can be a requirement for some but not all employers.
Since Brexit, a lot of employers find it easier to employ people with an EU passport, though plenty are still happy to employ Brits so it is worth applying regardless.
What can we offer you?
why choose us for your ski season
Your rate of pay will be dependent upon your level of experience, but as ski resort jobs go, you are running the whole chalet and your salary will reflect that.
A typical package can include accommodation, food and drinks, a season-long ski pass, ski equipment such as skis/board and boots, plus flights and transfers to and from the resort.
In an effort to avoid the headache of staff leaving midway through the season, many employers include a performance-related bonus payable at the end of the season. This can really boost your earnings!
