Maintenance People
France & Austria
All the drills and all the skills… Our maintenance team are the mortar that keeps our chalet service strong and our resort teams stable.
You don't have to be able to ski like a pro to get work in a ski resort. A popular job profile for lots of chalets is the 'driver/maintenance' person. Somebody who is expected to help with driving clients to and from resort or keeping the chalet in good condition.
Despite magazine photographs of clear blue sunny skies, ski resorts are actually harsh environments, and over the course of the winter the weather will burst pipes or damage cables. Applications from qualified tradespeople such as electricians will be strong but take a look at each job description as formal qualifications are not always essential.
This is a challenging role, but your days will be varied and you will get a good amount of free time. Advertised at regular intervals during the ski season recruitment period from Easter to Winter, take a look below for current vacancies.
POPULAR DRIVER & MAINTENANCE JOBSThe principal job of the driver is to collect and deliver new guests each week between the airport and the chalet. And then to be on duty to drive guests around resort each day, perhaps to the piste during the day, or restaurants in the evening. As such, your driving record will be exemplary and if you have previous experience of driving on snow, with snow chains, so much the better!
The driver role is often combined with maintenance, so employers will be looking for someone who can tell an open end from a box end spanner. Ski chalets have to endure long harsh winters so there are always things to maintain and fix. Ideally you will be able to turn your hand to plumbing, electrics and anything that needs fixing! As the role is so unpredictable, you need to be the kind of person who is willing to get stuck in and who will not be phased if your planned activities for the day are suddenly changed at the last minute.
