typical day
The job description
a typical day in resort

Our chalet hosts provide a warm welcome and comfortable home-from-home atmosphere for their guests on arrival day and throughout their stay.

A typical day starts with providing guests with a hearty breakfast, consisting of a continental lay out and a hot option each morning. Whilst the guests are enjoying their breakfast, you will get your cake in the oven, or make a start on some dinner prep to save time later. A daily light clean of the communal areas and guest rooms keeps the chalet looking clean and inviting. Before you finish for the morning, you will lay out afternoon tea with your freshly baked cake, ready for the guests to tuck into when they return from skiing for the day.

Enjoy the afternoon at your leisure, whether you decide to hit the slopes or spend time relaxing.

The evenings will vary slightly depending on the group in the chalet, some may have young children requiring a slightly earlier simple children's dinner, whereas some weeks may start with guests enjoying a glass of fizz with a canapé before dinner in one of our 'Signature Chalets'. Chalet hosts cook and serve the guests a delicious dinner from a set-menu (variations for dietary requirements may be required), before clearing up for the evening and the rest of the night is yours.

ideal candidate
Who are we looking for?
what makes you the ideal candidate

In particular we are keen to hear from mature, enthusiastic people who have a positive outlook, a passion for creating delicious food, fantastic attention to detail, and a proven ability to quickly build strong relationships with a variety of different people.

Essential requirements:

• A passion for creating delicious food. We are looking for a good underlying knowledge of cooking, alongside experience of catering for large dinner parties, or attendance on a chalet-focused cookery course for those without relevant experience.

• Attention to detail and high performance standards. You must be determined to perform all aspects of your role to the highest standards and take pride in your work, whether it be housekeeping, food preparation & presentation, chalet administration or guest interaction.

• Flexibility. Even though you may be assigned to one chalet for the majority of the season, our chalet hosts work as part of a larger team in resort, and will be required to have a high degree of flexibility when required.

• Excellent organisational skills. Half the battle of being a chalet host is already won if you can plan your time effectively and work efficiently!

• A genuine interest in people. You will have daily interaction with our guests and play a huge part in making our guests’ holiday a great one. We are looking for applicants with a sociable personality who will enjoy getting to know new guests every week.

•. A consistently positive outlook. The job at times can be hard and demanding, so the ability to remain enthusiastic and maintain a positive mindset is essential.

• A good level of physical fitness and stamina. The role involves a lot of time on your feet (working and skiing!)

• A love of skiing or boarding!

Applications are open to those with EU passports or the right to live and work in France (for example with Carte de Séjour). UK passport holders will also be considered where substantial and relevant experience is evident - visa and work permit will be required.

The majority of our chalet hosting positions require applicants to be over the age of 21. A limited number of positions are available to those under 21; applicants under 21 must have completed a chalet focused cookery course.

Please note we are now provisionally fully recruited for the Winter 24/25 season and any new applications will be held as reserve applications only.
